Lions' Update 12/12/25
Jack Rooney

It feels like the holidays are right around the corner! Our 4th graders recently created a beautiful Gingerbread Village, which was auctioned off at the Gingerbread Festival in Norwich, VT. All proceeds from the event supported The Family Place—a wonderful way for our students’ creativity to give back to the community.

Our 3rd grade Chorus also spread holiday cheer with a visit to the Marion Carter House in Lebanon, where they performed a selection of festive songs. Next week, both our 3rd and 4th graders will attend the Lebanon High School Holiday Concert—another highlight of the season!

Dear MLS Families,

As we all lean into the busyness of the holiday season, I want to take a moment to share my gratitude with all of you. I feel truly fortunate to be the principal at MLS. Our students are brave, thoughtful learners who show kindness and care for one another. When challenges arise, they work hard—with the support of our staff—to solve problems and grow from them.

Dear MLS Families,

It’s hard to believe we’re already nearing the end of October! The fall sports season is wrapping up, and our Finding Our Stride running group just completed their season with the final CHaD race! It was wonderful to see such an incredible turnout from the community—I spotted so many past, current, and future Mount Lebanon families participating in the event!

A big thank you to our amazing parent volunteers who came in to teach 4Winds lessons to our classes. We also had a special guest parent visit the 4th-grade classrooms to present about the heart, which connected perfectly to their current study of the circulatory system.

We’ve had a wonderful past two weeks filled with school-wide activities, field trips, fire safety programs, and professional development for staff today!

First, I want to thank our amazing PTO for organizing the first-ever Fall Festival at MLS. It was incredible to see so many families on Saturday! The pumpkin decorating, fall activities, hayrides, tours of the Lebanon Fire Truck, Book Fair, and the costume and clothing swap were all amazing. It truly brought our community together!

Afternoon Sing today was a wonderful way to end our week together at MLS! The students had so much energy for singing and dancing!

It’s been a very full week at MLS—our students have been busy taking the NWEA tests, releasing butterflies, visiting the Book Fair, and continuing their growth in reading, math, and science.
