A deer who broke into the MLS Staff Room!
Katie Roach

Along with our deer visitor this week, we also had NWEA testing for our Kindergarten through 2nd grade students, an amazing Chorus concert at the LOH, field trips for the 1st and 3rd graders, our Ice Cream Social for all grades, and an amazing talent show performance by a number of our 4th graders!

Yes, we are a busy school that means business when we work and learn in the classroom, while also enjoying activities outside the classroom that help us grow into great humans. Thank you to all of our families and staff for helping make these experiences so meaningful for our students.

Thank you to all families who have been sending water bottles to school each day with your children. Our students are active learners, and the recent warm weather is a great reminder of how important hydration is throughout the day.

This past week, our 3rd and 4th grade students worked diligently to complete their NHSAS assessments in reading, writing, and math. Completing these assessments is a tremendous accomplishment, and we are very proud of their hard work and perseverance. Thank you as well to our dedicated teaching staff for supporting and preparing our students throughout the year.

We hope you enjoy a wonderful long weekend with your children. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Tuesday!

Sincerely,

Katie Roach

Thank you to all the families who helped make Staff Appreciation Week so special! Our staff thoroughly enjoyed the amazing salad bar lunch and the duty-free lunch and recess, which gave them time to connect with one another and enjoy a well-deserved break together.

On Friday, we held Kindergarten Screenings, and it was wonderful to welcome so many families with younger siblings who will be joining our school community. It was also exciting to meet many new MLS families! We value our partnership with families and look forward to working together to support our students.

On Monday, our Kindergarten through 4th-grade students and staff will attend the LOH production of Tutti Frutti. I value and encourage the arts, and I love the tradition of our school community experiencing a performance together. Buses will depart MLS between 9:15–9:30 a.m. and will return by 11:30 a.m., in time for lunch and recess.

Wishing all of our moms and caregivers a very Happy Mother’s Day weekend!

We have had an incredible week, and it ended with a fabulous performance from our 2nd graders at Afternoon Sing.

During April break, our facilities department freshened up the playground, and we were able to reopen the swings and play structure.

The 4th Grade L.E.O. Group hosted a family-based Science Fair this past week, open to students in all grades—and it was a huge success! Students from across the school collaborated with their families to create thoughtful, engaging projects and delivered impressive presentations on Tuesday evening in the Multi Purpose Room. Several teachers stayed after school to support the event and awarded participation medals to all presenters. We are so proud of our budding scientists, as well as the 4th grade L.E.O.s who brought this incredible project to life from start to finish!

On Wedneday, we planted two apple trees in the front of our school! Hopefully we will have beautiful apple blossoms next year and tasty apples in a few years!

Friday night Bingo night was a HUGE success! Our PTO did an amazing job organzing a fun family event for all! Families, we appreciate your baked good donations for the Bake Goods Boogie! We also appreciate that Mr. Wetmore called the Bingo numbers!

The end of the year is busy with spring sports and end of the year school events. To help with your planning, I’ve listed the upcoming events through the end of the year below so you can mark your calendars.

Dear MLS Families,

Our students have been working incredibly hard over the past few weeks. Both our 1st and 4th graders recently completed their major school projects! The 1st graders became experts on animals of their choice, researching habitats and distinct physical features. Meanwhile, our 4th graders explored how to bring stories to life—writing original plays, creating books, and performing puppet shows!

In PE, Mr. McFee set up the obstacle ropes course, and it was wonderful to see the students' agility and enthusiasm as they navigated the challenge.

With the snow and mud finally clearing, you'll be happy to know that you no longer need to send in all five items of winter gear!
